2023-06-28T15:55:02+00:00

Polychromy is my first collaboration with media artist Aphra Shemza. It’s a 156 x 156 cm sculptural, wall-based, installation piece incorporating animated LED lighting. It has been displayed at Kallida festival in 2018, Art in Flux 2018, Event Two at the Royal College of Art 2019 and Digital Design Weekend at the V&A in 2019.

The piece, which can be configured in different ways is available for hire and new editions can be commissioned for purchase.

Inhabiting the Dome

2023-06-29T10:15:17+00:00

Inhabiting the Dome was commissioned by Working Project as part of the exhibition of the same name hosted at Whiteley’s in London’s Bayswater in 2018. It consisted of a multi-projector dome projection that utilised one of the iconic glass domes inside the building. Visible from the ground floor, it guided visitors to the top floor where the exhibition was hosted.

The exhibition explored the performative possibilities of architecture through artwork and the effect on scale when art is used to activate space. Haus-Rucker-Co, the sixties avant-garde architectural collective founded in Vienna, inspired ideas for the theme of the exhibition.

Zenoid³

2023-06-29T09:59:25+00:00

A mesmerising installation merging sound-reaction, projection mapping and generative visuals.

Zenoid³ is the 3D incarnation of the Zenoid concept. Utilising projection mapping techniques, it delivers a mesmerising illusion of objects floating in space surrounded by abstract ever-changing graphics that respond to audio.

It can be used as an audiovisual performance installation or as a sound reactive standalone piece. It requires a single projector and can be easily scaled up to become the centrepiece of a stage or festival, the limit being the projector’s throw distance and the necessary rigging. The concept is extremely flexible and can be adapted to a single cube.

Zenoid³ is Available to Hire for Events and Festivals

Enthymema

2023-06-28T15:57:19+00:00

Enthymema, from latin:
meditation, reflection, discussion, thought, reflexion

Process-based, projection mapping piece composed entirely from discarded materials and technology including projector and computer. Created for the Mars and Beyond exhibition at the Oxo Bargehouse in 2020, it questions our perceptions of what is considered to be rubbish while playing with the veracity of our senses with its interplay of projection, 3D surfaces and mirrors.

Enthymema is available for hire.

4D Watercolour

2023-06-29T10:36:14+00:00

4D Watercolour is an installation featuring a large watercolour painting of my own creation and projection mapping which can be displayed with and without audio.

It is a very personal piece that combines all the different aspects of my artistic career to date, mixing the traditional with the cutting edge to create a timeless expression. It has been on show at AV Depot, Art In Flux and Kallida.

4D watercolour is available to hire for events and exhibitions and I take commissions to create similar pieces on existing paintings. Contact me for any enquiries.

Beat – Permanent Video Installation

2023-06-29T10:25:38+00:00

Permanent 3 projector, ultrawide-screen installation created for members club Beat in London’s West End. The install featured an automated system with rendered and generative Quartz Composer content. A live feed from the DJ mixer provided the visuals with audio data that was used to modulate multiple parameters within the visuals while MIDI clock synchronised transitions to the beat. The content included 20 different scenes with completely different styles devised in a way that enabled the system to deliver several hundred hours of distinct content with numerous randomized parameters to create endless variations. Although the installation was programmed to be self-running, it could also be operated live if desired.

Musion Holographic Projection

2021-12-07T11:50:51+00:00

Animation piece conceived for the Musion Holographic Projection System. It was created using particle sound reactive systems in After Effects and devised as a performance where the holographic dancer suddenly materialises as a real dancer on stage. The piece has been screened at international events and exhibitions including Kinetika Art Fair in 2010.

reOnion – Interactive Installation

2023-06-29T10:46:28+00:00

Award-winning installation created for Burning Man in 2011.

An interactive, immersive, audiovisual experience driven by the heartbeats of 6 participants.

Reonion was a collaborative piece created by a team of 10 people including musicians, architects and visual artists. It consisted of a wooden structure with a recycled plastic cover which housed 6 pods. Each pod was kitted out with a bean bag and 2 hand-held heart monitor sensors. The data from the 6 pairs of sensors was used to drive the audio and video creating an interactive, collaborative, immersive experience for the viewers.

I was responsible for the creation of generative interactive projections which were created in Quartz Composer.

Reonion was powered by the sun, using equipment kindly supplied by Solar Camp.

The generative Quartz Composer patch that drove reOnion’s visuals was conceived as a sacred geometry dream machine. It utilised correlations between heartbeat frequency ranges, platonic solids and the spectrum of visible light.

ReOnion received the Rite of Passage Award
